Day 9 - An AI Assisted 10 Day Tour in New South Wales Australia

From Dubbo, we set out for Tamworth with a few planned stops for silo art and one viewpoint that ChatGPT recommended as a must see. We stopped in Dunedoo for a mid morning coffee and the first of the silo art. Cathy and I had to go to the Dinky Di Dogs Eye Kakkadoo Kafe, good coffee!

Next stop was Coolah on our way to the Coolah Tops National Park for another quick look at more mural art. The drive up to the park was along the State Forest Road that goes through pastureland as you climb up to the park. We startled a goat herd that decided the best thing to do was to run across the road in front of the car rather than stay where they were. Lots of livestock grates separating fields of goats, sheep, and cattle.

The park is quite remote, and we did see a few people camping. You would have to be completely self sufficient, no facilities other than camp sites.

The walk out to the view point was 1.6km through the bush that comes out onto a rocky outcrop that extends out from the forest. The view down to the plains was spectacular.

The route down from Coolah Tops to Tamworth took us through Quirindi. The roads were interesting. Mostly dirt, and in some places sign posted as “Not passable in Wet Weather”. Still went through a few small streams but nothing significant. Quirindi was our last stop for silo art before heading to the Tamworth Holiday Park for the night. We were watching the weather while we drove as there were thunderstorms in the area. We got to Tamworth just before the storm hit. Lots of wind, rain, thunder, and lighting, and like most storms, it blew through quickly. It did bring down a few large branches around us but no other damage luckily. Kebabs for dinner from Kebab Espresso. Really good and a decent price.
