Japanese Gardens and Aussie Hospitality

Started the day with a walk to the Japanese Gardens near we’re staying in East Gosford. Very peaceful spot with lots of ducks and koi in the ponds looking for handouts. There is a cafe onsite, a perfect spot for brunch. Sitting outside, looking over the gardens, and enjoying good food is a highly recommended way to start your day.

Around mid afternoon, we headed off to friends of our host for a BBQ. Just out of town, Carol and Alan moved to the area from Sydney 28 years ago. Carol worked in childcare and Alan is a jack of all trades, with a love of restoring old cars. He has a couple on the go, and he’s done a beautiful job. They, like so many other people we’ve met here, are simply genuinely friendly and welcoming. They have just of an acre on the side of a hill so lots of shade, and lots of falling branches. We had the best afternoon and evening of our trip with them, just trading stories and listening to them talk about life. When we first arrived, Carol and Alan’s daughters were there with their children, who were having a great time in the pool. Their family all live close by so they get to enjoy their family and they have the spot for it!

The one thing I love about travelling is meeting and talking to people, and this couldn’t have worked out better!
