That’s a Wrap, Thanks Australia!
We spent our last full day in Australia with a goal to see some of the iconic sights of Sydney like the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and of course Manley Beach. We walked down to Circular Quay to catch the ferry to Manley. The ferry was packed with mostly tourists. Quick trip, about 25 minutes and the best part is you get great views of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Kind of cool for us was seeing Sydney Harbout from the water and travelling across the course that SailGP uses when they’re racing in Australia. Seeing it on video is one thing but to see the wind gusts etc. is quite different from on the water. OK, once a sailor, always a sailor…

Iconic Sydney…
Had a nice wander around Manley, went to the Steyne Hotel for lunch, walked the boardwalk next to the beach watching the surfers (in wetsuits), volleyball, sunbathers, all the things you see on a beautiful beach. Manley is all about tourists, bars and restaurants everywhere. Lots of pedestrian only streets and traffic was pretty light. All in all a nice way to spend a few hours if you’re in Sydney. The sun here is pretty fierce and there is a high incidence of skin cancer in Australia so it was good to see a mobile skin cancer screening truck at Manley. Lots of people queueing up to be tested.

Manley Beach
We ended the day with a short walk after dinner for ice cream and got ourselves packed for the flight to New Zealand. Now that we’ve seen Sydney, we can now see we’ve seen Australia!
We’ve got friends are picking us up in Auckland and we’re looking forward to seeing them.
Blog posts are likely going to get less frequent as our pace of travel slows down. We’re in NZ for 4 1/2 months and we’re not planning on traveling every day!
